Staying at the Trout Hotel is a relaxing experience offering luxurious accommodation and fine food in the magnificent setting of the Northern Lake District. There are many attractions to see and explore including some beautiful walks around the most tranquil of Lakes. For the more adventurous the fells which provided inspiration for William Wordsworth including Cat Bells and Skiddaw which are close by.

The historic market town in which the hotel is situated offers plenty of individual shops, cafes and restaurants and is itself stepped in history with Wordsworth House the birthplace of William and Dorothy Wordsworth situated next door to the hotel. The famous Jennings Brewery is situated in town and holds daily tours and the renowned astronomer Fearon Fallows was also born in Cockermouth.

Families will find a host of attractions to keep the kids happy, Maryport Aquarium, Muncaster Castle with daily owl shows, Trotters World of Animals the Gin Case are just a few.

For the more sporting minded there is a great championship links course at nearby Silloth and excellent golf courses at Workington, Cockermouth and Keswick. The hotel also plays host to fishing courses and can help you organise fishing on the local rivers and lakes.
