Updates - We are reopening!

The Trout Hotel is Re-opening! 20th June 2010

The Trout Hotel is happy, over the moon, ecstatic to announce that we will re open our doors to guests on Sunday 20th June 2010.

Every Member of the team is working hard to ensure we are ready to greet our guests old and new back to the re-furbished Trout Hotel.  After all this time it is a joy to see the building once again looking like a hotel and not a building site.

The finished product is going to look wonderful and myself and all the team are really looking forward to seeing the reaction of our guests when they return to the hotel.

All the team are really looking forward to returning to our "normal jobs" and doing what we believe we do best ensuring our guests have an enjoyable and memorable time at the Trout Hotel.

Take a look at just some of the photo's that show the changes and developments that have taken place.

We have had from the very beginning an excellent team working on the reinstatement of the hotel, too many to mention here!  I would personally like to thank them for their support and commitment, I am sure that without this great team, our opening date would have been much later.

I do hope that you will visit the hotel again soon, and enjoy everything that the Trout Hotel has to offer.

March 2010

Three months on from the devastation caused by the Cockermouth floods in November 2009, we are aiming to re-open at the end of May 2010.

The Trout Hotel offices are now in temporary accommodation at the Lakeland Business Park on the edge of Cockermouth.  Reception is up and running and are currently taking reservations for the end of May onwards.  We can be contacted by email at reservations@trouthotel.co.uk or on 01900 823591 or 01900 828682.

Work is progressing on the re-build of all the ground floor areas.  The Riverside Rooms are now being plastered, electrics are being rewired throughout.  Kitchens have been redesigned and all new equipment ordered and the best bit, new design schemes for the bedrooms  and all front of house areas have been chosen.

We have an amazing team working on the hotel.  All have committed themselves and their time to ensuring that the hotel re-opens as close to the expected date as possible and looks wonderful when we do.

Cockermouth itself is still open for business; many of the local shops have moved into temporary premises and are trading as normal whilst work is carried out on their premises.  Gradually shops have also started to re-open on Main Street, some being Boots the Chemist, Harrisons Butchers, Greggs, Lloyds bank and Heals the opticians.

Cumbria as a whole has been relatively unaffected by the disaster and again is very much open for business.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Trout Hotel when we re-open, please keep checking the website for more updates.

Sue Eccles, Managing Director.

November 2009

All of the ground floor areas of the hotel were seriously affected by the severe floods, in places the water was 4 and a half foot within the hotel.  The hotel is now coming to the end of the clear up phase, professional crews having been working 24/7 to clear the all the ground floor areas of the hotel leaving what can only be described as an empty shell.  This will allow the drying out process to commence shortly.

We are aiming to re open in the spring of 2010.  The hotel will be refitted to our usual high standard with many of the same people involved that have worked on the development of the hotel over the past years.

Please keep checking the website for further details. Your patience is appreciated at this difficult time.
