Almost every ingredient which goes into our delicious recipes is sourced from local producers. Independent businesses, which if you get to know a little better, youll discover have unique and interesting histories. So, you can guarantee theres a tale worth telling about virtually everything on our menu.
We only use the very best ingredients our rich landscape can provide.
Fortunately, our local region is generous and provides us with premium quality produce. We buy our trout from Gilcrux Springs, a local family-run farm, which rears its trout throughout their life in pure, spring-fed water. This produces a wonderful, clean tasting fish. Our free range eggs come form the 4th generation of family at Scales farm, producing eggs fro 21 years they started off with only 12 hens. Even our beer is local. Jennings Brewery moved to Cockermouth in 1874. Pure Lakeland spring water is used for brewing, drawn from their own well and only the finest natural ingredients are added. Jennings Brewery
Based in Cockermouth since 1874 the brewery supplies the hote with a range of real ales.
Hawkshead Relish Company
As their name suggests the company is based in Hawkshead and supply our delicious Westmorland chutney.
Willow Water
Sourced from the famous ‘Holy Well of Cartmel’ in the Lake District the company supply the hotel with natural mineral water.
Pinks
Based in Staveley, The Trout Hotel uses this award winning producer of gourmet sausages and bacon for dry-cured bacon, pork and black pudding.
Carr’s Flour Mills
Supplying the hotel with all our flour the mill is based just down the road in Silloth.
M&J Seafood
A recognised fresh fish specialist, the company supplies all the hotel’s fish.
Appleby Creamery
Supplying our Eden Chieftain cheese the company is based in the town of Appleby.
