Food and Beverage Manager


Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Food and Beverage Manager or an Operations Manager with a Food and Beverage focus to take the role of Food and Beverage Manager at the Trout Hotel.

The hotel has been completely re-furbished after being damaged in the floods so although this will provide its own challenges it has meant that the hotel has been considerably improved and the person taking this role will be working in a brand new hotel!!!

The Trout Hotel is a 50 bedroomed hotel and is very busy on the food and beverage side with busy bistro, fine dining a la carte restaurant plus the main bar and lounge areas where meals can also be taken as well as a huge outside space which can triple business during the summer. The hotel has a very busy corporate trade during the week with more leisure and tourist business at the weekend with good local trade from clients just using the hotel for meals and a healthy wedding and function business.

ROLE: Reporting directly to the Managing Director your role as Food and Beverage Manager will be to manage all areas of the food and beverage department, including the bar, restaurant, bistro and conference and banqueting department.

Very hands on and customer facing you will be responsible for dealing with any customer issues, promoting a very customer focused culture and providing the highest levels of service and standards.

You will be involved in all training of staff, food and wine menu development and working closely with the team to ensure that it is motivated and performing effectively and within a safe and secure environment. You will be required to hold and attend heads of department meetings and work with suppliers to negotiate best prices and discounts, ensuring the the hotel is running is the most cost effective way, whilst maintaining standards. You may also be required to do Duty Manager shifts if necessary and develop and work closely with the General Manager to ensure that the this busy successful hotel is running efficiently at all times.

What are we looking for?

* Ideal candidate will have experience of working in a quality 4 star environment or boutique hotel and must have worked for an independent hotel operator to have an understanding of how independent hotels operate.
* Someone who can manage a multi-functional food and beverage operation
* Someone who is very hands on, prepared to get stuck in to work to continue and improve on previous success
* Someone who can work with a well-established team in an almost family-like environment whilst still maintaining standards, training and encouraging the team.
* Someone who has ability to manage heads of department and around 30 staff.
* You MUST have experience of working for a private hotel operator and/or more branded corporate experience - due to the way this hotel operates and where situated it would not suit someone who only has corporate experience.
* Someone who is very friendly, personable and approachable - The hotel has had many regular customers and you will need to build up a good rapport with regular clientele.
* You MUST be cost aware - as this is a privately owned hotel this is very important.
* You must be either very strong Food and Beverage Manager or strong Operations/Deputy Manager who has a real food and beverage focus as you will be involved in menu development with senior management and Head Chef.

***You must be happy to make the lifestyle choice of living and working in North Cumbria - a beautiful, idyllic location and a fantastic role for the right person. The hotel will offer help with accommodation for the first 3 months, but has NO permanent live-in as no senior managers live at hotel so you must be happy making your home in the Lakes***

Benefits

Salary and Benefits or Remuneration: Starting salary for this role is anything from £26,000 up to around £30,000, dependant on candidates experience...Plus membership to BUPA, 5% pension and full sick pay (at the MDs discretion) after 1 years service...plus a wonderful location to be based and work!!!
