We have stayed at The Trout twice over the last six months and on both occasions we have had a truly wonderful time. The staff are second to none and always go out of their way to ensure our stay is a most memorable experience. Nothing is too much trouble and every request is accommodated if possible.

Eating in the main restaurant is a gourmet delight and the food is of the highest standard feasible. The head waiter is a true professional and sets the standard for customer satisfaction.

The Hotel itself is maintained to the highest standards and the rooms are kept to an exceptional high level of cleanliness and decoration.

We would have no hesitation in recommending The Trout to anyone who wants a genuine first class hotel with exceptional levels of customer care and exquisite surroundings. We will be returning to The Trout at the earliest possible opportunity.

Having visited The Trout Hotel earlier this year, we decided to once again treat ourselves to another visit. I would like to thank your entire team for a most enjoyable stay. The warm friendly greeting from your reception staff is mirrored by each and every staff member we can in to contact with.

You should also be congratulated on your restaurant and the quality of food served. We dined in the restaurant on our first evening, which was a real pleasure. On our second night we decided to eat in the bar area, again we were not disappointed, great quality and an interested and diverse choice of food on the menu.

The location of your hotel is perfect; we enjoyed the tranquil setting alongside the river, and enjoyed a gentle stroll into Cockermouth.

On reflection we certainly did spend two very enjoyable days at The Trout.

I have returned home from a weekend break at your hotel and feel that I must comment on my stay with you.

We have stayed in your hotel several times and whilst our visit was cancelled last year due to your flood damage and refurbishing programme we were delighted that your high standards continue to impress.

The room was extremely comfortable with all that you would expect at a four star hotel. The restaurant food was exceptional in quality and presentation and deserves very special praise, particularly on a busy Saturday night when kitchen resources can be at a premium.

Your staff are obviously well trained and being local people they are welcoming and chatty without being overbearing. The waiter featured in the brochure  photograph was particularly endearing in his manner and service. During my business life and holidays I have stayed in many premium hotels but I cannot recall a better experience than at The Trout Hotel on this last visit.
